The Mermaid’s Cave Busselton: A Unique Experience
Just 600 metres from the iconic Busselton Jetty sits one of the South West’s most unexpected experiences: The Mermaid’s Cave.
Step inside this family-run attraction and you’re in an underwater-inspired world packed with thousands of seashells in every shape, colour and pattern. Look closer through the microscopes and the tiny details of the ocean come to life. Then meet the aquarium residents — seahorses, eels, pufferfish, anglerfish and more — in a space that’s as fascinating for kids as it is for adults.
There’s an interactive drawing wall where your underwater artwork comes alive, plus a gift shop filled with ocean treasures: shells, local art, pottery, jewellery, mermaid tails, Busselton souvenirs and one-off pieces you won’t find on the main strip.
Whether you’re after a rainy-day activity, a unique Busselton souvenir, a mermaid-themed outing or something different after a walk on the Jetty, The Mermaid’s Cave is a small, magical stop that feels nothing like a typical tourist shop. Short cave collection tours are available during opening hours, and school-holiday mermaid parties add extra sparkle for little visitors.

August 21, 2026I had my daughters birthday party recently, we chose the potion party option. It was absolutely incredible. It started off with a tour of the shell museum and aquariums, the seahorses were so captivating for the kids and adults! We then moved into the party room to do potion play. The set up was so special. Ocean themed of course, shells, fizzy powders, magical water and the party host explained in a super fun way how to use all the tools and trinkets and make your wishes. We brought along party food too and it was all set up beautifully for us to just out the food out, mermaid plates and cups all set up ready to go. It was so special to be able to actually enjoy my daughters party knowing everything was under control and done for us by the mermaids cave team. Highly recommend for anyone considering a party here
